Carp is a very safe neighbourhood. Depending on where you live, walking to the centre of town or school, such as the highly regarded Huntley Public School, may be an option.
It’s important to note that Carp isn’t ideal for those who rely heavily on public transit or are looking for a dynamic nightlife. However, for homeowners seeking country life with easy access to major highways and larger Ottawa-area towns, Carp is a fantastic fit.

There are many charming shops in the heart of Carp village, as well as essential conveniences needed for daily life, including a Scotia Bank, an LCBO, a convenience store, and a post office. A popular highlight (and a perfect place to grab some fresh produce) is the Carp Farmers Market, which runs at the fairgrounds every Saturday from May to October.
For larger retail needs, you’re about 10 minutes away from Kanata, which offers big-box stores like Costco, Home Hardware, and other larger retailers. Additionally, shopping centres like Bayshore and Carlingwood are only about a 20-minute drive away.
Public Transportation
Getting around from Carp primarily requires a vehicle, as the public transit options are currently limited. However, an OC Transpo Shopper Route bus service has a few stops and takes residents to the larger shopping centres outside of Carp.
For those with a car, getting to and from Carp is very easy. Accessing the main highway is easy; simply go down Carp Road to get onto the 417, which allows you to travel east to Arnprior or west to Kanata and the city of Ottawa.
