We Raised $800 for Breast Cancer Research

Original article: This year we’re raising money for the Breast Cancer Society’s Dress for the Cause fundraiser, which takes place on October 20.

“We’ve wanted to do it for the past 3 years, but we never managed to start early enough to participate the way we wanted to. This year, we kept an eye out and jumped on it,” says Jocelyne White, our Operations and Marketing Manager.

Selling Ribbons, Having Pancake Breakfasts to Reach $2,500 Goal

The first step towards reaching our $2,500 fundraising goal was to come up with the fundraisers themselves.

“We talked about it as a group; we wanted to come up with the best way to involve everyone,” Jocelyne explains.

So far we have three fundraising initiatives – selling ribbons at our office, Pink Fridays (where you pay a toonie if you don’t wear pink), and pink pancake breakfasts.

“We’re also planning on decorating the office inside and out for the month of October, and may do something outside weather permitting,” Jocelyne says.

You Can Help Us Reach Our Goal By Donating Online

“We have a donation page set up through Dress for a Cause. You can donate online, or you can even stop into the the office and buy a ribbon! You can right your name on it and we’ll put it up on our wall,” Jocelyn explains.

This Cause is Close to Our Hearts

Breast cancer is something that touches almost everyone in some way or another. The same is true for all of us, which is why this cause is so important for us to support.

“This is a cause that’s close to our hearts,” Jocelyne says. “We used to participate in their walks, and now we’re so excited to be able to participate in Dress for the Cause. It hits close to home.”

Donate to the Breast Cancer Society

We started fundraising in mid-September, and will be continuing our activities through to October 20. “It’s not going to be easy, but I’m optimistic that we’ll reach our $2,500 goal,” Jocelyne says.

Dress for a Cause has come and gone, but you can still make a donation towards breast cancer research in Canada.
